(…)Leider kann ICH mir das nicht leisten, doch es geht hier  nicht  um 100 € oder 800 €, sondern ist grundsätzlicher Natur.

Es geht um „Entlohnung“ und somit Respekt, vor Qualitätsarbeit, die jemand leistet – da darf auch gerne etwas Anderes als „Lohn“ gezahlt werden, wie kostenlose Unterkunft, Essen/Trinken, T-Shirts, Einladung, Bahnticket, Gutscheine, Bücher –  ihr versteht mich.

Spendenquittung ist an sich sehr gut, aber nützt nur demjenigen, der eh viel Geld verdient, um seine Steuern zu senken. Wenn ich jedoch soviel verdiene, kann ich mir diesen „Gratis“-Job auch leisten. Nützt also nichts.

NEIN zur „Umsonst“-Arbeit, weil dann ist es ja keine Arbeit, sondern Ausbeutung!
NEIN zu Freundschaftsdiensten bei kommerziellen Projekten, weil hier wird Geld verdient von einer Seite!
NEIN zu „mal eben schnell“, weil nicht richtig geplant wurde und irgendjemand tief gepennt hat, der aber dafür bezahlt wird!
NEIN zu „Umsonst“-Praktika , weil böse, falsch und Ausbeutung!
NEIN zu unbezahlten Überstunden bei kommerziellen Projekten, weil (gewollt) falsch kalkuliert wurde!
NEIN zu Kalkulationen von Projekten, die davon ausgehen, das „Alle alles für lau“ machen, besondere gerne , weil jung, dynamisch (und dämlich)  Grafiker, Texter, Programmierer und Fotografen!
NEIN zu unbezahlten Volunteer-Stellen, außer es gibt eine andere Entlohnung/Erfahrung, die es wert ist, zb. Aufenthalt an besonderen Plätzen, Tieren, Menschen, etc.
NEIN zu unbezahlten wissenschaftlichen Hilfskräften, die müssen auch von irgendwas leben!

Dies würde ich im übrigen auch allen anderen NGOs oder Agenturen/Firmen schreiben.  Egal ob BBDO, Mercedes, IFAW oder Greenpeace!

Dies als Antwort meinerseits auf die Frage einer NGO, bzgl. „Job“, denn ich SEHR  GERNE gemacht hätte, aber mir finanziell nicht leisten kann. Eine große Agentur kann das (jemand freistellen für 2 Tage, egal), eine Firma (Harz4 Praktikanten und Dauer-Leiharbeiter kosten eh fast nichts) und auch Studenten (gegen Schein oder weniger Stundenlohn).

Ja, „taktisch“ ist meine Entscheidung nicht schlau, aber es geht im Leben darum,  Position zu beziehen, eben „Standing“ und nicht immer schön hinterher dackeln in der großen Masse. Dadurch retten man nämlich keine Tiere, sondern nur die „selbst gemachten“ Arbeitsplätze  von NGO Mitarbeitern. Warum arbeiten diese nicht „kostenlos?“ – eben!

the usual struggle about money is nothing to worry about, its just a big fckin hassle! still more concerned to find a goal, a destiny and something i care about and make money with it to support my life.

i started to play the ukulele, my spirit is strong to do kendo again after month of struggle and of course i want to run more (aiming for 15 -21k end of this year!). i definitely need to cut down on beer and swap to spirits –  seriously! too much beer, to much calories 😉

talking about beer, i wanna do my own micro brew for the summer. homemade summer ale, light and crispy! looking forward to do it & try it out.anybody want to join me on this journey?

A few conferences, planing city trips to Berlin, Vienna and Copenhagen. Hiking the Saxony Swiss in Germany in late spring, maybe spending hopefully some time around the Baltic sea or Atlantic Ocean in summer, and maybe California is up in Autumn again, to finish off the year with some snowboarding in the Alps!

Would really love to make some proper money to do all the things i wanna do. so much to do in life, aye? diving, surfing, snowboarding, kendo, books, traveling, concerts & festivals, hiking and good coffee! i need to push my own business! I spend way too much time on other peoples projects and stuff I CAN’T make money with. Not taking mine serious! need to focus, fast!

eating!  not much milk and yoghurt anymore, no meat in the last couple of month, no fish this year and i am in a really good mood about it. need to eat more greens and fruits! i will try hard to eat no meat as much as i can, but the BBQ season is coming up! on the other side it feels ok for ME to eat a little bit of meat as long as its eco-friendly/sustainable  and not more then once or twice a month. urgs!

Webfonts. fantastic, standard-based, super cool! client project for a friend, he is a type designer, so great chance to play around with his fonts and see what we can do in 2010 with webfonts. also my first foray into them.

In the end it seems sad, but i can say, that at the moment, its only mac osx with webkit/safari/chrome & the newest mozilla running smooth. PC? its ok, in IE 8  but not beau.
its the bloody rendering under windows. sucks! A total desaster under windows xp without „cleartype“ on. i don’t know anything what to do here? how to force ppl to „switch“ it on … very frustrating 🙁

a note to myself: use web fonts for headlines and subheads, 20px up, but for the copy use the default ones, like arial, times, etc. for the moment. it seems to be fail-safe for IE and Mozilla on Mac, Unix and Windows (as long as „clear-type“ is on)– a great round-up is this article by Mrs. Zeldman and discussion about the “ cross browser use“ of it, and not „specially designed for your designer audience “ … read the comments!

what is also quite strange it seems there is only one „web app“: fontsquirrls webfont creator out there. Why isn’t it integrated in CS Adobe? Fireworks? Indesign? No standalone application? or am i wrong? at it seems, the type designer must meet special requirements so the rendering is nice, but then i read webkit/safari choose their own kerning/hinting! Postcript should be better then TT for creating the wof and so on …

very confusing. BUT i just made the first steps on this road, so lets see what’s possible in IE9 and everything coming in 2011! are their any special mailing list or groups out there in Germany, who are discussing web-fonts, besides advertising for font shops webfont stuff?

… weil ich gerade damit schon jens auf FB genervt habe, meine meinung zum thema dioxin eier als grundlage für diskussionen, hier in (ergänzter) form:

„die Massentierhaltung in Verbindung mit Profitgier und „GeizigistGeil“ Mentalität ist IMMER ein Problem und alle anderen „Probleme“ nur Symptome dessen.

Wenn jeder von uns nur Bio Eier zu 1 E kaufen würde (Prioritäten) und einfach mal weniger Eier futtern, wäre allen erheblich geholfen. Eier bitte durch beliebiges Lebensmittel ersetzen. Jede „Verbraucherschutz“ Diskussion ist nur ein Farce

Und Bio bedeutet auch in Konsequenz auf Discounter-Strukturen zu verzichten (gelingt mir auch nicht!) Was nützt es, bei Aldi & Co Bio Zeugs zu holen? Diese diktieren auch „ihren“ Bio Bauern, was es zu kosten hat, Personalkosten gering halten, keine Betriebsräte, erlauben, Tier durch halb Europa fahren, nicht regional aufgestellt sind, tierverachtend usw.

Nein, solang (Gross-)Bauern mit Lebenwesen wie Dreck umgehen und Verbraucher, dies tolerieren & durch Kauf direkt unterstützen, ändert sich rein garnichts.

mir fällt es auch oft schwer, gerade wegen der kohle. aber dann müssen wir halt alle einfach mal wieder lernen „mehr zu verzichten“ als immer „mehr haben zu wollen“ – Lieber ein gutes Stück Käse, als 10, lieber ein gutes Brot als 10, lieber 6 Eier in der Woche, als 10 Eier – you got it!

sorry jens für den rant, aber ich bin echt so genervt. jedes jahr nen neuer „skandal“ und alle fressen weiter wie gehabt. das system kollabiert, keiner will auf was verzichten, politik ist ein witz und nach mir die sinnflut. haupsache immer „ich ich ich“

I think its very good to have a kind of fresh start every 12 month, even if we all know, that things will continue, if not we, by ourselves decide, where to go from here. But we all knew, the sky is the limit. So go for it, Forest!

Last year, in Hervey Bay, Australia, 32°, bbq, beer and friends, this year, 5°, düsseldorf, Germany, working over NYE and friends, too  – for me, after the last 2 years, another absolutely great year comes to end, lets see were we at end of next year! Join me on the rollercoaster!
